One more move by the Red Wings?

2014-03-02

That's no secret for anybody in the league, the Wings are aiming for the Holy Grail, what could be missing to that team to achieve this?

"We aren't looking for the big splash, adding some experience to our line up would be nice even if we are confident with the group of players in place right now." GM Cyr said.   "We could also look around for a good defensive forward who could be up to the task on the PK, guys like Datsyuk and Zetterberg are doing great on killing penalties but we want them to keep their energy for some 5 on 5 and PP action."

It's been told that back up goalie Ray Emery would probably leave, if it's not today he certainly won't be back next season as Jacob Markstrom and newly acquired Cam Talbot should fight for Detroit's #2 spot next year.  "Ray has been huge for us this season when we needed him but it looks like as a UFA he'll test the market this summer.  Heading into the last stretch of the season, Quick's obviously our man and he should be in the net for pretty much all Wings' games till the end of the season."  On the other hand, the Wings will have to discuss with Talbot and his agent this summer regarding his future with the team.  "It all comes down to the numbers, I'm pretty confident we can work this out".

Even with the playoffs ahead, the Wings still want to work on their depth.   "Getting Suter was huge for us, he just turned 29 and he still has many good years to come.  Oliver is amazing too, with Jones they represent our future at the blue line.  This being said, we would like to add one more young d-man as Orpik and Seidenberg might have to go next summer."  Rumors are saying several prospects of the organization have been offered, Mark Scheifele being the biggest name available.

Steeve Cyr

Andrew McDonald or Jason Garrison would be available for an experienced d-man who has a really good DEF rate. They are both under 30yo, good NHL season and amazing contracts.
