Nylander Breaks Goal Record Despite Leafs Loss

William Nylander made history Wednesday night, scoring twice to reach 61 goals on the season and surpass Patrick Kane’s 60-goal benchmark from 2020–21. The milestone performance further cements Nylander’s place among the NHL’s elite scorers.

Despite the offensive surge, the Toronto Maple Leafs fell 4–2 to the New York Rangers, unable to capitalize on Nylander’s record-breaking night.

Nylander, who recently set a new franchise record for goals in a season, continues to carry the Leafs’ offense as the regular season winds down. With nine games remaining, Toronto now shifts focus toward securing a playoff spot in an increasingly competitive standings race.

The Leafs will look to rebound in their next outing, hoping Nylander’s historic form can translate into crucial points down the stretch.
