Panthers Offseason and 2020-2021 Preview

2020-07-23

It's been a very busy offseason for the GM of the Florida Panthers. We've seen so many players and picks come and go, but all signs point towards a cool down until the draft, at least. GM Dupuis got right to work after the Red Wings captured the cup in May. He wasted no time getting rid of some of his bigger contracts to shed salary, with intentions of fetching some big names that were UFA. Unfortunately, the free agent gods had other plans. The panthers only signed 4 players during free agency. Lars Eller, Marcus Sorensen, Oskar Steen and Jacob Middleton. Eller and Sorensen are expected to play with the club this upcoming season, while Steen and Middleton figure to be projects for the future. The Panthers we're still able to upgrade up front and acquire some scoring wingers in Toffoli and Bjorkstrand, an area Florida struggled with last season.

The 2020-2021 Panthers projected lineup

Toffoli-McDavid-Bjorkstrand

Meier-Zibanejad-Wilson

Leivo-Eller-Kapanen

Sorensen-Thompson-Kassian

Extra: Gaudette, Aube-Kubel

Trouba-Keith

McAvoy-Bouwmeester

Borowiecki-Tinordi

Extra: Fox

Starter: Hart

Backup: Miller

The panthers might look to upgrade their top 6 wingers as they have a lot of quality prospects (Podkolzin, Bernard-Docker, Pelletier, Noel, Jenik, Rodrigue, Jones...) and a few picks (13th, 38th, 61st and 69th) that could peak the interest of some fringe teams or the ones in the midst of a rebuild.

No wonder this team can play with masks on, this team is filled with high endurance type players. Based on the amount of deals you are constantly making, I assure you that this isn't the last version of the team before the season starts. Happy shopping and ensure that you look for the covid mask stat, the higher the stat the more likely they are at wearing the mask during play.
