Free Agency Frenzy - READ !!!

2018-06-28

Hi all!

Please read this email entirely!

Please go check one more time before free agency to make sure one or more of your players/prospects are not in the UFA list.

Only 2 more days to buy out players for less than full contract value.

- Free agency starts Saturday, June 30th at 9 PM ET.

- You can start offering contracts to your own players who will become UFA at the end of this season (18-19) on July 1st.

Salary Cap: $79.5 M

minimum: $58.8M

FREE AGENCY - June 30th - 9 PM ET

To see all free agent, go to:

UFA - Transactions / Unrestricted Free Agents

RFA - Transactions / Restricted Free Agents

Note: the goaltenders are at the very bottom, scroll down!

When you go make an offer to UFAs/RFAs, it`s possible players have already received an offer, so verify under the second tab as well (UFAs/RFAs with offers). Once a player has received the 1st offer from any team, he only stays available for 24 hours, so act fast. make sure to make your first offers before Sunday evening 9 PM ET, if you don't, the majority of the key players won`t be available anymore.

After 24 hours, the players that have received offers will select the best 3 offers and move under the 3rd tab (UFAs/RFAs Deciding). 24 more hours later, the portal will randomly select the winning team; best offer has 60% chances of winning, 2nd best, 30% and 3rd, 10%.

Reminder: all players with a contract of $1.5M or more can NOT be sent to the AHL.

Keep a eye on your roster;

Maximum amount of player: 25 in NHL (as long as you are below the salarial cap), 30 in AHL.

RFAs

If you make an offer to a RFA, you need to have the picks accordingly to the compensation chart in case the former team doesn't match your offer.

$1,339,575 or below
None
Over $1,339,575 to $2,029,660
Third-round choice
Over $2,029,660 to $4,059,322
Second-round choice
Over $4,059,322 to $6,088,980
First-round and third-round choice
Over $6,088,980 to $8,118,641
First-round, second-round and third-round choice
Over $8,118,641 To $10,148,302
Two first-round choices, one second and one third round choices
Over $10,148,303
Four 1st round picks

So for example, if you make an offer of $4.3 million per season to a RFA, you will need one 1st round pick and one 3rd pick in the next 2 draft years. The team owning the player will have 2 (two) days to match the offer. The team acquiring the player will decide what picks are being sent to the other team in case they have several picks available in a specific round.

NOTE: Teams owning RFA players who are testing market on July 1st can not trade them once free agency has started. You can not make offers on your own RFAs until July 10th.  After July 13th, all RFAs who haven`t received any offer become UFAs.

Remember, you need enough players; goaltenders, RW, LW, C and D to form 2 teams... so make sure you have enough players for each positions. You can't build a team with players rated under 20, they can be used as spares when you have too many injuries but it should be exceptional. Strongly  suggest you have at least 5 goaltenders. If you only have 4, and simming is blocked because one of them is injured and you only have 3, you'll be fined as explained in the rules.

=============================

July 1st, signing your own UFA/RFA to be after this season.

You can start making offers to your own UFA/RFA to be (July 1st 2019) on July 1st.

Reasonable offers to a free agent would give you about 60 to 70% chances of signing him, you can't really low ball a player, if you offer less than 100% of his demands, you'll see this % drop dramatically.  If a player rejects an offer, you % drop by 10%.
For example;
Malkin is UFA, offering him a contract of $7.3 M per season for 3 year gives a resigning odds % of 70.  If he rejects it when you'll make your second offer, for the exact same offer you would get a resigning odds % of only 60.  If he rejects again, it drops another 10%.
So for players you really really want to keep, make a STRONG FIRST offer.

You can also use Signing bonus (goes toward salary cap) and no trade clause options to raise your %, but by experience, let me tell you to go easy with the no trade clauses, having too many players with NTC can tie your hands for years.

You have 3 chances of signing a free agent, if you use all the 3 attempts and fail, that player will automatically become a free agent at the end of the year, he can be traded to another team but that team wont be able to sign him, he would be used for a cup run only.  If you trade him before you used all 3 attempts, the team acquiring him will have 2 chances of signing him.

RFAs - same process but resigning odds % are higher

Rules Modifications

Coaches

Their influence on the game was disabled, this is not the case anymore. Coaches will now have a minimal influence on the results.

  • Hiring of coaches starts on August 1stevery season. You don`t  need to renew their contract, a coach is yours until you decide to fire him.  You can`t fire/hire coaches between the last day of the playoffs and July 31st. When firing a coach, the salary for one year will be paid out. Coaches’ salaries do not count toward the salary cap but it`s remove from your bank account.

Email will be sent before we start bidding on coaches on August 1st.
