Three Stars of the Week

MONTREAL, QC — As the Montreal Canadiens prepare to take on the Philadelphia Flyers tonight, the league has announced the three stars of the past week. Both Jakob Silfverberg (4 goals, 5 assists 9 points) and Chris Kreider (4 goals, 5 assists 9 points) join the Blackhawks’ Nikita Kucherov (4 goals, 3 assists 7 points) as the league’s top three.

Prior to tonight’s action, reporters caught up with Silfverberg at the morning skate in Philly: “Happy...I’m just happy to be part of such an elite group of players this league has. It’s nice when things sort of fall in place though.”  One of Silfverberg’s most recent goals clinched an OT thriller over Anaheim in Montreal the other night.

“He’s really come out and shined as of late. He and Kreider both just to name a couple. I think that if guys continue to step up for us and join Silfverberg, Kreider, and our solid goaltending from [Andrei] Vasilevskiy, then there is no reason why we can’t make the playoffs. Just have to continue to stay healthy and make sure we’re playing a full three periods,” commented head coach Barry Trotz.

Can Silfverberg and Kreider continue their point streak tonight? We’ll soon find out. Puck drops later tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.
