Bruins Announce 2014-2015 Roster

2014-09-15

GM Andrew Arcesi of the Boston Bruins has publically finalized his roster and released proposed line-ups that Head Coach Darryl Sutter will be using in the upcoming 14 game condensed pre-season schedule.  After missing the playoffs last season for the first time in the short franchise history, Arcesi addressed some concerns he had with last season’s depth with some moves this season.  Some of the major moves can be seen on the defensive end with the addition of the ever towering Zdeno Chara.  Arcesi also added some experienced vets for the third line defensive pairing in Hal Gill and Nate Prosser.  He also added some more grit up front by adding in Ryan Callahan and Craig Adams.  A couple of youngsters in Reilly Smith and Tyler Toffoli will see action in Boston this year paired up alongside of another youngster in Sean Couturier.  Arcesi is hoping that this line will bring youthful energy to the team.  However, the biggest changes that the Bruins made were in goaltending.  Arcesi is starting this season with two new netminders.  Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to get the bulk of the workload while Justin Peters will be his back-up.  Neither of these two have any experience in a Spoked-B jersey, but they’ll see plenty of action this season.  Aside from the 3 big names on the point for the Bruins, their defense may lack from last season, but Arcesi is focusing more on the goaltending and forward positions this year compared to last season.  Four lines will be rolled all season long and even the Bruins 4th line could be a lot of teams 2nd line in this league.  The great depth that the Bruins have upfront will have to help compensate for their marginal depth on defense.  We’ll see how this year plays out for Arcesi and Co.

Line-ups expected as follows:

Parise - Toews - Callahan

Ryan - Giroux - Kessel

Smith - Couturier - Toffoli

Miller - Boyle - Adams

Chara - Voynov

Bouwmeester - Stuart

Prosser - Gill

Bobrovsky - Peters

Defense will be tested for sure but your offense should be top notch. Bobrovsky is a good goalie. #FlyersDumbForTradingHim

Mathieu Leger Well, you have to pay the price of what a top line winger is worth...not a 3rd line winger. :)
