MONTREAL, QC --- Thursday night's SimNet game between the Rangers and Canadiens got underway when Chris Kreider lit the lamp just four seconds into the game.

Brock Nelson won the initial face off to start the game and got the puck to Kreider off the faceoff. Kreider crossed the blueline and fired a snapshot beating goaltender Jonathan Quick just four seconds into the first period. That ties a Habs record for the quickest goal ever scored to start a period.

On November 9th 1957, Claude Provost scored four seconds into the second period of a game vs the Boston Bruins during the 1957-1958 season. Kreider's goal last night goes down as one of the quickest in Habs' history and SimNet hockey history.
