LAVAL, QC -- The Montreal Canadiens of the SimNet Hockey League recently hosted a prospects showcase featuring a handful of prospects.

 

Four teams and a two game exhibition: Team Lafrenière vs Team Newhook and Team Beniers vs Team Sillinger. "We put together this little 'prospects showcase' if you will, using EHM freeware," states Habs GM Mike Cooley. "Some of these young guys like goalie Sebastian Cossa, winger Marcus Karlberg, center Connor Zary, goalie Joel Blomqvist and winger Zachary L'Heureux really showed out. A lot of fun for these guys and our organization to put this on...to help bridge the gap of no hockey between now and the end of summer," chuckled Cooley.

While the future is bright for many of the young guns...we'll have to wait and see if any of them sign an entry level contract into the SimNet Hockey League this summer. "I wouldn't doubt it. Some great young stars have come out of recent drafts. While COVID the past couple of seasons may have put a bit of a damper on how many opportunities scouts have had, there's no doubt the scouts are doing their homework," comments Cooley. Time will tell how many of these guys will call the SimNet Hockey League home in the seasons to come.
