MONTREAL, QC --- After dropping the first game of the latest homestand Tuesday night to the Detroit Red Wings 3-2, the Canadiens responded with a 4-2 win on Thursday night against the Islanders at the Bell Centre. All four Canadiens goals were scored by left winger Chris Kreider.

Kreider's first goal of the game came at the 3:08 mark of the 1st period. The Islanders Nick Backstrom answered with a goal at the 17:48 mark of the 2nd period. It seemed as if the tightly contested game would be headed to the 3rd period tied at 1, but Kreider had a different idea.

With just 50 seconds left in the 2nd period, Kreider put home a rebound from a Matthew Dumba shot that goaltender Juuse Saros couldn't come up with cleanly. "Just at the right place at the right time," stated Kreider.

Just 30 seconds into the 3rd period, Kreider would strike again - notching the hat trick. After Brock Nelson won the faceoff in the Canadiens zone, Kreider showed his speed taking the puck the length of the ice and beating Saros with a snapshot.

Just like a Billy Mays clip, "But wait...there's more!" Kreider wasn't finished. He would add a 4th goal at the 15:04 mark of the 3rd period on a slapshot that handcuffed Saros. "That poor guy (Saros) is going to have nightmares of Kreider," joked a fan leaving Bell Centre Thursday night.

While Kreider seemed to be the main attraction at Bell Centre Thursday night, Andrei Vasilevskiy silently tried stealing the show stopping 31 of 33 shots. "This winning effort wasn't just me. Without Vasy coming up big and keeping it close, especially early on, who knows how things would've turned out. Very happy for this team and our start this season," stated Kreider. The Canadiens are off Friday before hosting the Golden Knights on Saturday night.
