ANOTHER SEASON = ANOTHER KINGS GM

Not long after another disappointing season that saw them finish dead last and with a record of only 27-47-8, the Los Angeles Kings let their GM go and began the hunt for a new one. It was a long process, but finally they decided to take the chance and name Chris Walsh to head the organization in LA. We were able to reach Walsh via a Zoom call last week and asked him a few questions:

HTSN: What does it mean to you to become the newest GM in Los Angeles?

WALSH: This club has struggled in the past 4 seasons so I can see why many GM's would turn down the offer to come here. But what I see is an oppourtunity to put this city and its fans back into the playoffs. 

HTSN: With little time to prepare, what kind of moves can we see from the team heading into Free Agency and how are you preparing for the upcoming draft?

WALSH: Me and my advisors will have a couple of sit down meetings in the next few days to assess where we stand positionally, but early indications are that we will be looking to add two big guys up front to play on the wings with Matthews and Barzal. Maybe add some additional depth to the squad. We have some money to play with here so expect to see some big offers once Free Agency opens. In regards to the draft, having one of the top 2 picks right now is key. We will be getting a Franchise type player in either of those two spots. Once we can get that player, along with Dylan Cozens into our lineup, I think we will be on the right path to getting this team to where we and the owners expect us to be.

It will be interesting to see exactly how the Kings will shape up going into next season, but one thing is for sure, there is a sense of optimism surrounding the organization since Walsh's arrival as he looks to bring winning back to the City of Angels.
