Detroit, MI --- The time is finally here! The 2020 SimNet Stanley Cup Final! Last year's president's trophy winners (Buffalo Sabres) went on to win the Stanley Cup. Will history repeat itself for this year's president's trophy winners, the Detroit Red Wings? The Red Wings steam rolled their way to the Finals beating the Capitals 4-1 in the quarterfinals, the Canadiens 4-1 in the semifinals and the Islanders 4-2 in the eastern conference finals. Led by forward Sidney Crosby and goaltender Pekka Rinne, the Red Wings are looking to bring another cup home to Detroit.

 

Standing in the Red Wings way though is another SimNet powerhouse in the St. Louis Blues. After coming close in recent trips to the playoffs, the Blues are hoping to win it all with four more wins. The Blues got their playoff legs going with a 4-2 series win against the Blackhawks in the quarterfinals. The Blues didn't look back after round one sweeping the Stars in the semifinals 4-0 and the Ducks in the western conference finals 4-0. I certainly don't forsee a sweep of the Red Wings in the Final, but both teams will have their hands full which means the potential for a lot of hockey for the fans.

 

Expect this to be a GREAT series between two high-powered offenses with Crosby and company in Detroit and Taylor Hall and company in St. Louis. Oh and let's not forgot the defense each team has as well, led by Rinne in net for Detroit and Robin Lehner for St. Louis. How does the hockey vernacular go? Ah yes! Barn burner. Expect this series to be a barn burner for sure. Two of the best in the league battling for it all EVERY night they lace up the skates. Battling for one title: Stanley Cup Champs. 

 

Who holds the upper hand in this one? Too close to tell. It wouldn't be surprising to see this one go the distance. This is what Stanley Cup action is all about. The best of the best. The fun starts tomorrow night in Detroit with Game one. Good luck to both teams, the Red Wings led by GM Steeve Cyr and the Blues led by GM Sal Peralta.
