Montreal, QC --- It's been a rough start to the 2019-2020 season for the Canadiens. The team has lost its first three games of the season all on the road: 2-1 @ Carolina, 4-2 @ Toronto and 2-1 @ Buffalo.

 

Media personnel caught up with Canadiens' head coach Barry Trotz at this morning's pregame skate. "It's certainly not from a lack of effort," stated Trotz. "These guys are averaging about 30 shots on net per game, but the puck doesn't seem to find the back of the net. Our defense is doing all it can, but when you only average 1.3 goals per game, unless it's a shutout, then forget it...you won't win," added Trotz.

 

The team seems to be playing solid defense in front of goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, but the team's goal scoring drought has left "The Big Cat" with a 0-3-0 record and .900 save percentage to start the season. Frustration is beginning to settle in after the three game road trip.

 

Also available at the pregame skate earlier today was team captain Dustin Brown. When asked about the team's start, Brown added "Absolutely. One word can describe it all...frustrating. We get some great looks at the net, but can't seem to make it happen. Unfortunately, that happens sometimes in this sport. Let's just get it out of the way now at the beginning of the season and find that team chemistry. It's also unfortunate for Vasy. The guy stands on his head to keep us in games and we can't win it." 

 

The Canadiens seemed to have some great chemistry in the preseason and looked very solid heading into the regular season, but suddenly things changed when the puck dropped on the regular season last week in Carolina.

 

Tonight's game will be no easy task as the Canadiens open up their 2019 regular season home schedule with a matchup with division rival Detroit. Can the Habs finally find their scoring touch and get in the win column? Can they do it in front of their home crowd against a tough division rival? Find out a bit later tonight.
