Rochester, NY --- After the Laval Rockets (AHL affiliate to Montreal) were shutout 4-0 last night in Rochester against the Americans (AHL affiliate to Buffalo), the Rockets and Canadiens' team management announced that they would be suspending defenseman Dalton Prout for two games. At the 5:46 mark of the 1st period, Rockets' goaltender Ondrej Pavelec made a save without a rebound. Shortly after, a melee ensued in front of Pavelec and after the dust settled, Brady Austin received a 5-minute major for fighting and Prout received a 5-minute major for fighting, a 2-minute minor for instigating and a 20-minute misconduct penalty for instigating and being the aggressor of the fight after going after Austin. In conjuction, Prout was also ejected from the game.

 

"We want to send a message to our players that we won't tolerate guys blatantly going after others. It's understandable when a guy gets frustrated out on the ice, but there's a line we feel that you just don't cross and Prout crossed that line," stated Rockets' head coach Mike Kelly.

 

Prout will be suspended for the team's next two games: Sunday at home vs Hartford and Tuesday in Cleveland. He will be eligible to return on Wednesday night at home vs Manitoba.
