Montreal, QC --- GM Cooley spoke with his staff last weekend via conference call about the teams plans for the upcoming free agency period and draft. Rumors out of Montreal are that team management is not planning on making any major moves at this point either through the trade market or free agency period. 

 

The team did release this statement from GM Cooley's office this morning: "As of right now, we feel we have a solid team in place and don't anticipate any drastic changes in the near future. We're also preparing for the entry draft at the end of next month and are compiling a list of potential targets in the draft. Our scouts are working around the clock looking at the talent in this year's draft."

 

Some fans might be left wondering what the Canadiens might do with forwards Mike Richards and Patrick Kaleta. Neither player suited up for the team last season. The team's only viable option at this point is to buyout the contracts of Richards and Kaleta. More to follow in Montreal.
