The Capitals bring the Cup home!

It was not an easy road, it took 25 games to beat the Devils (104pts), the Islanders (118pts), the Sabres (101pts) and the Sharks (101pts) following a regular season where we went from the 9th position in the Eastern conference back in January to finish 2nd overall (112pts), six points short of GM Cyr and his New York Islanders. 

GM Therio had to bring a lot of new blood to fix numerous shortcomings in several departments... top 6, bottom 6, defensive squad.   We had players assuming roles that were not really fit for them.  Those trades were not always seen as an improvement by other GMs in the league but our results over the weeks, months and playoffs proved them wrong.

OUT: Kevin Shattenkirk, Adam Larsson, Ondrej Palat, Jason Chimera, Kyle Palmieri, Kevin Bieksa, Wayne Simmonds, Zemgus Girgensons

IN: Eric Fehr, Ryan Suter, Patrick Marleau, Kris Letang, Mark Letestu, Milan Michalek, Nicklas Grossman, Andrew Cogliano.  We`ve picked up some good prospect too; Jakub Vrana, Chris Wolanin, Rem Pitlick and Madison Bowey.

We were expecting more from Carey Price (15-9, 2.83, %907) but he came up big when we needed him. Connor McDavid was amazing finishing with 29pts (9-20) and was supported brilliantly by Getzlaf, Marleau, Ovechkin, Perry, Letang and Trouba.   We want to thank Ryan Suter, defensively he was our main man finishing the playoffs at +6 playing more than 24 mins per game, unfortunately, we were not able to protect him for the upcoming expansion draft.  Future is still bright in Washington and the Caps will try to defend their title next year!
