With only less than 20 games to go, the Eastern Conference Standings look like it will be a strong race to the finish.  Seven teams fighting among them to end up on top of the mountain with only 9 points separating from seventh to first place.  

1.  New York Rangers:  89 points

All year long, GM Emond has been leading "strongly" the way on top of the standings with his Power House of young talents.  Without taking any chances every games played, the following teams will have to earn every points to take the lead from the Rangers.

2. Tampa Bay Lighting: 86 points

New in the league this year, GM St-Pierre has been busy turning the Tampa Bay roster around all year long to be a playoff contender.  On top of the South East division for a while, fighting with Winnipeg Jets, and with only 3 points from the leader, it could be the door opener for the playoff spot they are wishing for.

3. Boston Bruins: 84 points

The North East division, led by the Bruins, will be a battle all the way to the finish with three more teams fightings for the first spot and also in the race for the Eastern Conference Title. 

4. Buffalo Sabres: 84 points

Tied with the Bruins, in the North East division, GM LeBlanc with his mix of young talent and veterents, is fighting hard to earn the first spot in the division.  Also being followed closely by the Sens and the Leafs.

5. Ottawa Senators: 81 points

Gladiators from the North East divisions, GM Young aquired Jerome Iginla to compete again the other three teams fighting for the first spot of the division and also in the conference's race.

6. New Jersey Devils: 81 points

Being in second place in the Atlantic division, behind the NY Rangers by 8 points, the Devils took a strong lead in front of the NY Islanders to secure a spot in the Conference race.

7.  Toronto Maple Leafs: 80 points

The Leafs are only 9 points from the leader, the NY Rangers in the Conference race, and only 4 points from first in the North East division.  An extreme battle in the North East division for the four teams fighting for the #1 spot.

With only a few points behind, Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets, New York Islanders and Pittsburg Penguins didn't say their last words. The standing will be changing every week, and some teams might see themself on top or on the bottom of the mountain.  Or even out of a playoff spot.
