New GM Jacob Ranson arrives
2021-08-17Jacob Ranson has been appointed the new general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the National Hockey League.
Ranson, who has been a GM for many years in the past, stepped away for a number of years to focus on his career outside of hockey but is now keen to get started once again.
He comes into Columbus eager to not make too many changes after the team has made slow progress in recent years, although he is happy to bat trades back and forth, and still keen to move a few of his current roster to call upon and embed some more youngsters whilst maintaining the core of the group.
Ranson said: "I'm pleased to be back involved and i'm hoping to help push Columbus on even further. I have been analysing since arriving and feel we have a good group of players. I am keen to keep hold of the core or improve on it.
"I'm happy to talk trades, but will not make them for the sake of it. I know i'm the new guy again and have had alot of offers which have not been to my liking so far. Majority of them have been for key players with no real intent from the other club.
"Let's see what the future brings. We have put a few players name up on the block and are hoping to do some business."
