Leafs Draft Review

  The Leafs made six picks in this years entry draft, three of them coming in the first round.  The general manager of the Leafs was happy with his clubs draft.  Here are the picks and his view on them.

William Nylander 5th overall - " We are thrilled to add his skill set to our talent pool, there may have been safer picks at this spot but we swung for the fence here and it felt good leaving the bat!  He could one day have the highest skill level from this draft, he already has the nicest hair!"

Michael Dal Colle 6th overall - "We feel he is one of the safest picks in this draft,  we drafted a player that will play somewhere is our top six in the near future.  I get really excited thinking about Michael and William playing together in the future.  Goals should not be a problem!"

Travis Sanheim 26th overall - "Honestly we were thinking of going with a different player here, but when Travis fell to us at this spot, we were very pleased!  We had him ranked a lot higher.  He is a tall puck moving defense that will have lots of time to develop and gain weight."

Marcus Pettersson 44th overall - "With this pick we trusted our Swedish scout 100%, he wanted us to take this kid at 26.  This is the same scout that incised on us taking Brodin, Forsberg and Lindholm in earlier drafts.  Not a bad track record!"

Ville Husso 96th overall - "Last year we had thoughts of picking this goalie late, he passed through that draft.  He had a good past season and we felt this could be a good gamble.  Also there has been and are some pretty good goalies that have come from Finland, hopefully this trend continues!

Rourke Chartier 117th overall - "This player is the player I have seen the most, he played on a Rockets team that where number one in the country.  He was there most important center either shutting down a top line or playing the number center roll himself.  Very versatile player!"
